Seasons Greetings!

Dec. 23, 2012: We wish the best of the winter holiday season to all!

Now that our gardens are asleep for the winter, we wanted to add some decorative seasonal colour to enlighten the walk through the forest at this time of the year.

These photos were taken along the upper north end pathway of the birth forest.

Even the eagles look as though they are shivering in the cold!

Winter, a lingering season,
is a time to gather golden moments,
embark upon a sentimental journey,
and enjoy every idle hour.

Surely as cometh the Winter, I know
There are Spring violets under the snow.

Nature has undoubtedly mastered the art of winter gardening and even the most experienced gardener
can learn from the unrestrained beauty around them.

All through the long winter, I dream of my garden.
On the first day of spring,
I dig my fingers deep into the soft earth.
I can feel its energy, and my spirits soar.
- Helen Hayes

Every gardener knows that under
the cloak of winter lies a miracle ...
a seed waiting to sprout,
a bulb opening to the light,
a bud straining to unfurl.
And the anticipation nurtures our dream.
- Barbara Winkler

Go to the winter woods:
listen there, look, watch, and the dead months
will give you a subtler secret than any
you have yet found in the forest.
- Fiona Macleod
